Decluttering or... does everything really have to come with you?
Because the less that has to be transported during the move, the cheaper it becomes! In most households, quite a lot accumulates over the years. Whether it is equipment from a former hobby, such as the classic golf bag, or furnishings you never really liked in the first place – get rid of it! Contact your city or municipality for information about bulky waste collection or place an ad on a classified ads platform. Sometimes one item or another will still find a grateful new owner this way. Charitable organisations are also happy to receive discarded clothing, accessories or furnishings.
Start early!
Because the earlier you have an overview of the scope of the move, the better and more cost-effectively the price can be calculated. Good preparation can also save time and therefore, above all, reduce moving costs. In other words: anyone who empties the cupboards early and packs everything well can be sure they have optimised the effort required for the move as much as possible.
Organise the move yourself.
Especially if you still have the “old” German driving licence, you are allowed to drive a small truck yourself. And it can carry quite a lot. This option is certainly the cheapest – but it also involves a great deal of effort, especially for moves that involve more than just a single-person household. Even if friends and family help, a privately organised move takes significantly longer and, in the end, does not compare with the professional support provided by real moving experts.
